Behind the Scenes: Hideout Awakening - Part 2 Camera Tracking

Features of the scene are manually selected for tracking.

Moving objects are masked to be ignored, then auto tracking is completed.

Once the camera is solved, 3D markers are placed to check for accuracy.

The first shot in scene 5A has a dramatic 3D camera move. This footage needed to be tracked and solved so that the background could be replaced with the 3D model of the cathedral. The images show some of the tracking process, while the video demonstrates the incorporation of the solved camera into a 3D scene.

Behind the Scenes: Hideout Awakening - Part 1 Modeling

Only what was visible to the camera was modeled.

The structure was detailed in ZBrush

The bell was also detailed in ZBrush

Textures were painted using Substance Painter

This scene required 3D models of the interior space for the Cathedral of Christ the Savior’s bell tower, located in Moscow Russia. Using reference photos that we captured on our trip to Moscow, we modeled a rough approximation of the interior space, with some modifications added in to fit the story.
